Ryuhi Memorial Museum

Ryushi Kawabata (1885-1966) is considered one of the great masters of modern Japanese-style painting. The Ryushi Memorial Museum was built in 1963 to commemorate his Kiju(77th birthday) and the Order of Cultural Merit he was awarded.The museum was planned and designed by Ryushi himself and has a collection of more than 120 diverse works from early Taisho era(1910s) to the postwar period. After the dissolution of Seiryusha, the organization that operated the museum since its founding, the City of Ota has taken over management since 1991.
