Following his graduation from Meiji University,Masao Koga moved to the Yoyogi-Uehara district where he set up residence in 1938 at what is now the location of the museum. It was Koga's dream to create a"village for music"in the district-a place where fellow creators could pursue their love for music.Carrying on his vision, the Koga Masao Museum of Music was established as an institution for popular music. The museum not only features displays and memorabilia related to Koga's life and work, but also houses exhibits that trace the history of popular music in Japan.
