Cape Jaffa Lighthouse - National Trust
The historic Cape Jaffa Lighthouse, originally a 41-metre Wells Screw Pile lighthouse opened in 1872 on the Margaret Brock Reef off the South Australian coast, was de-commissioned in 1973 and gifted to the National Trust of South Australia. Re-erected at Kingston SE, it opened as a museum in 1976. The lighthouse contains an eight-room keeper's dwelling and a Chance Brothers lantern that originally cast its beam up to 40 kilometres out to sea. Tours run on the hour during South Australian public school holidays.
