Ichiyo Memorial Museum

The museum opened in May 1961 as Japan's first independent literary museum for women writers, and was renovated and reopened in 2006 after being adopted as the "portrait on the 5,000 yen bill". The permanent exhibition focuses on the roots of the Higuchi family and the trajectory of Higuchi Ichiyo up to her debut as a novelist, displaying manuscripts, strips of paper, and magazines in which she first appeared. Special exhibitions and special exhibitions feature unique themes unique to the museum.
