In his 90 years of life, Saneatsu Mushakoji left many works of literature, art, drama, and thought. In search of rich greenery and pure waters, he moved to Chofu City where he spent his last 20 years. His assets were later donated to this city, which created Saneatsu Park to commemorate his achievements. The park stretches over 5,000m2 and leaves traces of the untouched nature of this region with his house preserved as it was in his time. The museum, built with an underground path leading to the park, changes exhibits periodically to allow visitors learn about Saneatsu’s multiple facets.
