Hay Gaol Museum

Hay Gaol Museum occupies a historic prison complex built in the late 1870s and officially opened in 1880 in Hay, New South Wales. Over its long life the building has served as a prison, maternity hospital, World War II Prisoner of War detention centre, and an institute for girls before becoming a museum. Today it houses over 3,000 items and 7,000 photographs documenting the region's diverse social history, with wheelchair access, a shop, guided tours and barbeque facilities.
