Elizabeth Bay House

Elizabeth Bay House, operated by Museums of History NSW, was once described as "the finest house in the colony." Built in the 1830s for Colonial Secretary Alexander Macleay, the elegant Greek Revival villa with its grand domed saloon overlooks Sydney Harbour. Restored to evoke the Macleay family's residency, it tells stories of colonial Sydney's aspirations and architecture.
