Ballarat Tramway Museum
The Ballarat Tramway Museum is Australia's most authentic working tramway, a volunteer-run living museum preserving Ballarat's tramway history dating back to 1887. Visitors can ride heritage trams on a three-kilometre return journey along the original 1887 tramway alongside the Ballarat Botanical Gardens and Lake Wendouree, with authentic paper tickets issued by uniformed conductors. The museum hosts around 30,000 annual visitors and features historic tramcar displays, archival footage, a theatrette, and tramcars under restoration.
