Channel Museum
The Channel Heritage Museum celebrates the cultural heritage of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel region of Southern Tasmania, located 20 km south of Hobart in Margate. Permanent displays cover the original Aboriginal inhabitants at Oyster Cove Station, early explorers, Channel industries, the 1967 bushfires, the Don Norton Camera Collection, the Electrona Carbide Works, and Dutch migrant life. A separate exhibition space houses a collection of vintage farming machinery, and the museum runs a cafe and library, accredited by the Australian Tourist Industry Council.
