Art & History Museum
The Art & History Museum (Musées Royaux d'Art et d'Histoire / Royal Museums of Art and History) in Brussels invites visitors on a journey through prehistoric flints, Egyptian mummies, ancient glassware, and medieval tapestries. Founded by Royal Decree in 1835, it is part of Belgium's Federal Scientific Institutes. The renovated America Galleries (nine rooms dedicated to indigenous cultures of Central and South America) reopened in October 2024, while the Antiquities Wing — including the Egypt, Greece, Rome, Near East & Iran, and Islamic Art galleries — is temporarily closed for renovation until at least mid-2026.
