IWASEBUNKO LIBRARY

Iwasebunko Library was established in 1908 by Yasuke Iwase, a wealthy merchant in Nishio city.He established the library with the desire “to help improve his hometown's culture through books” and opened it to the public. After W.W.Ⅱ, Yasuke’s wish and library were inherited by the citizens of Nishio. Since then, Iwasebunko has been managed by Nishio City.In recent years, Iwasebunko has become a museum of ancient books; as well as preserving valuable books for the future in an optimal environment, visitors can touch, enjoy, and study the books and learn about the culture of past ages.
