Bezoekerscentrum Kolonie 5-7

Bezoekerscentrum Kolonie 5-7 is the visitor centre for the former pauper colonies of Wortel and Merksplas, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Colonies of Benevolence. Housed in a converted former pig barn at Grote Hoeve in Merksplas-Kolonie, the centre presents the origin, architecture and landscape of the colonies along with the personal stories of the vagrants and staff who lived and worked there. About twenty interactive installations guide visitors through the colonies' world, including a digital 360° drone fly-over of the landscape.
