Maison des Mégalithes

La Maison des Mégalithes de Wéris is a site museum created in 1994 and dedicated to megalithism and the Neolithic period. It explores how Neolithic populations transitioned to settled life, discovering agriculture and animal husbandry while developing the crafts and skills that transformed their world. The museum focuses on the megalithic site of Wéris — whose dolmens and menhirs belong to the Seine-Oise-Marne culture dating from 3,000 to 2,800 BCE — and explains how these monuments were erected and their links to funerary customs. Exhibits include didactic panels, multimedia sequences, scale models, casts, reconstructions, and archaeological materials. Visitors can also watch a film about the site in the on-site auditorium.
