Belfort
The Belfort (Belfry) of Ghent, together with the St. Nicholas Church and St. Bavo's Cathedral, defines the city's iconic skyline. Since the Middle Ages this tower has been the symbol of urban prosperity and independence, with a fiery dragon weathervane watching over the historic centre. A climb to the top rewards visitors with panoramic views of Ghent. The Belfort is part of the Historische Huizen Gent network of city-managed heritage sites.
