TAKENAKA CARPENTRY TOOLS MUSEUM

Opened as the only museum of carpentry tools in Japan, the exhibits showcase the breadth and abundance of these tools using hands-on displays that would appeal to the visitors’ five senses. Moreover, the building of this site is replete with traditional skills of carpenters, plasterers, and tilers making it a place for visitors to experience Japanese craftsmanship. While designed to enjoy tools, it also serves to pass on the spirit of “the art of making things” that our people have cherished since antiquity. We hope visitors enjoy the architecture of harmony that subtly links man with nature.
