The Memorial Museum of Freedom and People’s Rights

The people of Kochi Prefecture played an important role in the freedom and people’s rights movement of Japan, the first democratic movement in our country. They take pride in their contribution to this historical moment, which is symbolized in the following words: “Freedom comes from the mountains of Tosa (former name for Kochi Prefecture).” The Memorial Museum of Freedom and People’s Rights is a history museum and a cultural institute, but it also aims to support enhancing the　developments of the citizen autonomy and the local culture in its hometown.
