Fukuoka Art Museum

The Fukuoka Art Museum’s collection is made up of two major parts. The first comprises works from the modern and contemporary era, including masterpieces by 20th-century artist such as Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol, and modern Western-style paintings by Kyusyu-born artists such as Aoki Shigeru. The second consists of pre-modern art such as household articles handed down by the feudal lord of the Kuroda Family, tea utensils, some of which are Important Cultural Properties, and Buddhist art. These have been presented in various exhibitions over the years since the museum first opened in 1979.
