Museo de Ciencias Naturales La Salle

The Museo de Ciencias Naturales La Salle in San José, Costa Rica, is one of the most comprehensive natural history museums in Latin America, home to more than 65,000 specimens on permanent exhibition. Its remarkable collections span palaeontology — including full-scale dinosaur exhibits — zoology (invertebrates such as corals and arthropods, as well as fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals), skeletons, archaeology, and fossils. Outstanding collections of shells and butterflies are particular highlights. Run by the De La Salle community as a cultural project in service of the educational community, the museum promotes conservation of natural heritage and biodiversity, and is widely recognised as one of the finest institutions of its kind in the Americas.
