Ceremonial Hall

The Burial Society Ceremonial Hall is a Neo-Romanesque building constructed between 1906 and 1908 by architects Jan Gerstl and Alois Gabriel, located on the grounds of the Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague's Jewish Quarter (Josefov). Originally used by the Prague Hevra Kadisha (Jewish Burial Society) for the ritual purification of the deceased (Tahara), the building was leased to the Jewish Museum in Prague in 1926 and hosted exhibitions on Jewish burial customs from 1997 to 2024. The hall is currently closed and undergoing reconstruction, with new exhibitions planned.
