Archäologische Staatssammlung

The Archäologische Staatssammlung in Munich, founded in 1885, is the central Bavarian state museum for prehistory and early history and one of the most significant archaeological collections in Europe. It holds approximately 20 million archaeological finds, with some 15,000 objects on display following its 2024 reopening. Two barrier-free permanent exhibition tours guide visitors through the development of humanity and offer insights into archaeological methodology, with branch museums across Bavaria extending the collection's regional coverage.
