Deutsches Burgenmuseum

The Deutsches Burgenmuseum on Veste Heldburg in Thuringia explores the world of medieval castles. Through original artefacts, atmospheric historic rooms, models and multimedia presentations, the permanent exhibition tells the story of castle life, architecture and culture. A highlight is one of the oldest medieval wall paintings in Germany, depicting a knights' battle, on view since 2020. Special exhibitions, lectures and theme days complement the programme.
