Domschatzkammer Aachen

The Aachen Cathedral Treasury (Domschatzkammer) is the most significant ecclesiastical treasury north of the Alps. Its collection of around 130 outstanding works on three floors traces 1,200 years of art history, from the early Middle Ages through to the modern period, and reflects the liturgical life of the church founded by Charlemagne. Aachen Cathedral and its treasury were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1978 — the first German entry. The barrier-free museum sits beside the cathedral cloister, accessed via the gothic "Kleines Drachenloch" portal opposite the Dominformation.
