Kazemattenmuseum

The Kazemattenmuseum (Casemate Museum) is housed in the historic gun casemates of the Afsluitdijk, the famous Dutch dyke connecting North Holland and Friesland. The museum tells the story of the construction of the Afsluitdijk in the 1930s and the role the casemates played during World War II. Visitors can explore the original military bunkers built into the dyke structure and learn about both the engineering feat of closing off the Zuiderzee and the wartime history of this strategic location.
