Heimatmuseum Heiligenhafen

Opened in 1992 in a restored 1902 Art Nouveau building (the former municipal Spar- und Leihkasse), the Heimatmuseum Heiligenhafen is run by the city in cooperation with the Förderverein für Heimatmuseum und Kultur e.V. The family-friendly displays are organised in four themes — town history, harbour and seafaring, fishing and seaside life, and fossils and prehistory — with hands-on activities, materials on Theodor Storm's novella 'Hans und Heinz Kirch', and works recalling Wilhelm Jensen, Fritz Grasshoff and a 1921 Lyonel Feininger visit.
