Museen Schloß Voigtsberg
Museen Schloß Voigtsberg occupies a hilltop castle in Oelsnitz, Saxony, first documented in 1249 as the seat of the Vögte von Straßberg. The medieval complex, complete with a walkable historic outer bastion, contains a series of remarkable historic interiors: the Fürstensaal (Great Hall), the St. Georgskapelle with its sacred artworks, the Schösserstube from 1637 with an early Baroque timber-beam ceiling and wall paintings, and the Rittersaal with its original preserved clay-bundle ceiling. Permanent museum collections include a Mineraliengewölbe (mineral vault), a Teppichmuseum (carpet museum) and the Illusorium, alongside regular special exhibitions. An Illusorium, virtual tour and historical costume hire add to the visitor offer. Celebrating 777 years in 2026.
