Fanø Skibsfart & Dragtsamling
Fanø Skibsfarts- og Dragtsamling is a maritime cultural-history museum in Nordby on the Danish island of Fanø, telling the story of the island's purchase of itself from the Crown in 1741 and the rise of one of Denmark's largest 19th-century sailing fleets. Exhibits cover the island's seafaring history, the distinctive Fanø women's costumes shaped by maritime life, and changing special displays such as the wreck of the schooner Sophie. The museum also operates a working "rigger's loft" workshop where children and adults can try traditional sailors' handicrafts.
