Hedvig's House

Hedvig's House (Hedvigs Hus) is a traditional half-timbered home with a thick seaweed-thatched roof at Østerby on the Danish island of Læsø, preserved as one of the most characteristic examples of Læsø vernacular architecture. Acquired by Læsø Museum in 1994 to save it from demolition, the house has been restored to its mid-19th-century appearance by the volunteer guild Hedvigs Hus Laug. Hedvig's House is one of several sites operated by Læsø Museum, which interprets the cultural and maritime history of the island.
