National Museum of Antiquities and Islamic Art

The Musée National des Antiquités et des Arts Islamiques is the oldest museum in Algeria. Its historical and archaeological content testifies that the land of Algeria is one of the richest in the Mediterranean basin. The museum features two main pavilions: the Pavillon Antique showcasing ancient artifacts including Roman magistrates, vessels, stelae, and sarcophagi; and the Pavillon des Arts Islamiques spanning Islamic art from the Umayyad period through to the contemporary era.
