Bankfield Museum

Bankfield Museum, open as a museum since 1887, tells the story of Halifax and Calderdale through rich and diverse collections covering local history, costume, art, toys, military history, jewellery and textiles from around the world. Housed in a Victorian mansion in Akroyd Park that was the home of mill owner, philanthropist and MP Colonel Edward Akroyd, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions including embroidery, quilting, textile art, paintings and photography. Facilities include free parking, refreshments, a shop and accessible ground-floor galleries, and admission is free.
