Braunton & District Museum
Braunton and District Museum, housed in The Bakehouse Centre — converted from a former bakehouse and two cottages — preserves the heritage of Braunton in North Devon. Displays cover the working model of Braunton railway in the 1950s, military history (including the WWII training on Braunton Burrows that was instrumental in the D-Day Normandy landings), local writer Henry Williamson (author of Tarka the Otter), and Braunton's maritime and agricultural heritage. Admission is free and the museum offers guided tours by request.
