Captain Cook Memorial Museum

The Captain Cook Memorial Museum is set in the 17th-century Whitby house where the young James Cook lodged as an apprentice when not at sea. It tells the story of Cook's seamanship, exploration and ten years of voyages across the Pacific, South Atlantic and Arctic oceans, drawing on rich collections of letters, artworks, scientific instruments and ethnographic material that bring his life and times to life.
