Cardiff Castle

Cardiff Castle stands at the heart of Wales' capital city — a historic fortress set within green parkland, surrounded by shops, cafés and city streets. Across nearly 2,000 years it has been a Roman fort, a Norman stronghold with stone walls and keep, and from the 19th century a spectacular Victorian residence rich in symbolism, colour and craftsmanship under the Bute family. Visitors can explore Roman walls, medieval towers, the Castle Apartments and the surrounding parkland.
