Lady Waterford Hall

The Lady Waterford Hall is a Victorian model village schoolroom in Ford, Northumberland, home to an astonishing series of Pre-Raphaelite watercolour murals. Originally commissioned by Louisa Anne, Marchioness of Waterford as a school for local children in 1860, she spent 21 years completing her artistic masterpiece. The murals feature the faces of neighbours, tenants and children who lived and worked on the Estate. The original visitors' book reveals that people from all over the world came to admire the murals — from the Queen of the Netherlands to William Holman-Hunt. The Hall is also available for private functions including wedding receptions, meetings and parties.
