Archaeological Museum of Istria

The Archaeological Museum of Istria, founded in 1902, is one of the largest museums in Croatia. Its role is the research, protection, preservation, presentation and valorization of the archaeological and cultural heritage of the Istrian peninsula. The main building is currently closed for extensive renovation, with thematic exhibitions on view in the museum's gallery spaces and permanent displays at separate locations including the Amphitheater, Small Roman Theatre, Temple of Augustus and Basilica of St. Mary Formosa.
