House of Sampoerna

House of Sampoerna is a free museum in Surabaya, East Java, housed in a Dutch colonial building dating to 1858. Originally an orphanage before becoming a tobacco factory, the complex tells the story of the Sampoerna family and the iconic Indonesian kretek (clove cigarette) brand they built. The museum displays vintage cigarette-making machinery, historical photographs, and artefacts tracing the brand's rise to become one of Indonesia's most recognised companies.
