Knock Museum
Knock Museum tells the story of what happened on the 21st August 1879, when fifteen ordinary people witnessed an extraordinary event. This event, the Apparition, changed Knock from a small rural village into an international Shrine. At Knock Museum we hope you will gain some insight into the fifteen local witnesses, their lives at the time and why millions of people have come to Knock on pilgrimage since then. The thatched house, blacksmiths forge and folklife collections in the museum show what life was like in 1879 Ireland. The large photo wall represents the generations of pilgrims who have come to Knock since the Apparition. You can listen to many of their personal stories and memories in the museum. You can read the handwritten letters written by people cured at Knock.
