Tarbert Bridewell, Courthouse and Jail
Tarbert Bridewell Courthouse & Jail was built in 1831 and depicts the rough justice meted out in 19th Century Ireland. The Exhibition features a Spine Chilling re-creation of the Judicial and Prison system in the 1830s. Meet the accused Thomas Dillon, share his anguish and follow his trial and judgement. The life size models - Court Room Prison Cells Exercise Yards and Keepers Quarters are a grim reminder of the intolerant judicial regime of impoverished 19th century Ireland.
