The Coleman Irish Music Centre

There is a permanent exhibition located on the second floor of the Visitors Centre where you can listen to instruments, musical styles and individual musicians from the beginning of the last century right through to the music of today. The farmhouse cottage is a replica of the original Coleman home, which will give visitors a unique insight into how people lived in the early twentieth century in Ireland. A traditional style forge, which played an important part in the development of traditional style music in the Killaville area, forms an annex to the reception and is constructed using red and white sandstone and has a tiled roof. In the reception building is housed the music archive, which is managed in conjunction with Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann and forms the most comprehensive collection of Sligo traditional music and song in existence.
