The Wildlife and Heritage Centre

Peadar Morgan opened the doors of the Wildlife & Heritage centre in 2000. Peadar worked for Duchas/The Wildlife Service as a Wildlife Ranger for 23 years. Part of his job involved members of the public contacting him with their Wildlife queries & casualties. As Wildlife enthusiasts know, unfortunate events including those caused by us humans can sometimes result in tragic circumstances for birds & mammals as well as natural reasons. Instead of burying or disposing of birds & mammals that have been caught in unfortunate incidents, People would bring them to Peadar & he would liaise with both the Garda Siochana and the Wildlife Service to obtain the relevant permission to have the specimen mounted with a taxidermist. Over the course of 23 years of Wildlife, Peadar built a large collection of mounted specimens - each with their own story. The Wildlife Centre allows members of the public to come & see this impressive collection of over 300 mounted specimens. In more recent years, the Centre has built a large collection of artifacts of Irish Heritage. Allowing younger generations to understand the way of Irish life from many years ago. Visits by appointment only.
