The Workhouse

The Dunfanaghy Workhouse is a heritage centre exploring local history but from 1845 to 1922 it was a traditional Workhouse offering respite for the poor. Visit the Workhouse and meet Wee Hannah, as she struggles to survive the famine and her stay in the Workhouse. Learn about the Workhouse and some history about the Sheephaven Bay Area. The centre re-opened in 1995 to include a coffee shop with lovely home baking, a community playground, library and a range of facilities such as free WIFI and internet access.
