Chennai Government Museum
The Government Museum, Chennai — also known as the Madras Museum — is one of India's largest museum complexes, occupying an Egmore campus of 46 galleries. Founded in 1851 and celebrating its centenary in 1951, the museum covers archaeology, anthropology, art, numismatics, botany, zoology, geology, chemical conservation and a dedicated children's museum, including a virtual tour of its renowned bronze gallery. The site also hosts the Theosophical Society's connections, district-museum administration for Tamil Nadu, and a continuing programme of educational activities and publications.
