Keezhadi Archeological Museum
The Keezhadi Archaeological Museum in Keezhadi Village, Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to finds from the landmark Keezhadi excavation — one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in South India, revealing evidence of an advanced urban Sangam-era civilisation along the Vaigai river dating to around the 6th century BC. The museum displays terracotta figurines, copper artefacts, iron implements, spindle whorls, and pottery bearing Tamil-Brahmi inscriptions, providing tangible evidence of sophisticated urban life, trade, and literacy in ancient Tamil Nadu that predates previously accepted timelines. The site is managed by the Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology.
