Badami Museum
The Archaeological Museum at Badami, established in 1982 by the Archaeological Survey of India (Dharwad Circle), houses 181 antiquities including sculptures, carved architectural members, and inscriptions found in and around Badami. Its four galleries and an open-air gallery display works such as the makara-torana, representations of Siva (Kalari, Tripurantaka, Bhairava, Nataraja), Vishnu as Narasimha, female divinities including Lajja-Gauri and the Matrikas, and panels depicting Bhagavata and Krishna-lila scenes. A model of the prehistoric cave at Shidlaphadi, trans-slides on pre-historic life, human evolution displays, and sections on conservation, excavation and epigraphy round out the collection.
