City Palace

Established in 1959, the City Palace Museum, Jaipur is one of the premier palace museums in India. The complex was built from the mid-18th century with additions continuing into the mid-20th century, and is one of the few royal court complexes of a Hindu ruler from the Mughal era that survives intact as a single historical site. It served not only as the residence of the maharaja but as a place for religious rituals, community entertainment, political administration and patronage of over 36 art forms. Galleries include Sileh Khana, Sabha Niwas, Painting and Photography, Mubarak Mahal, Rath Khana, Pritam Niwas Courtyard and the architectural pavilions of the palace.
