Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta di Carignano

The Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta di Carignano is one of the most notable works of architect Galeazzo Alessi and a prime example of Renaissance architecture in Genoa. Commissioned by Bendinelli I Sauli in 1482 to represent the wealth and power of his family, the centrally-planned building features four similar facades and colossal 17th-century marble statues by Pierre Puget, Filippo Parodi and Claude David.
