Cattedrale di San Lorenzo - Perugia
The Cathedral of San Lorenzo (Duomo di Perugia) is the imposing main church of Perugia, built between 1300 and 1487 in Gothic "hall church" style by architect Fra Bevignate. The interior features three equal-height naves with octagonal pillars, decorated with later Baroque marble work commissioned by Bishop Pecci (later Pope Leo XIII). Notable artworks include the venerated Mater Gratiae fresco (c. 1515), the Renaissance inlaid choir by Giuliano da Maiano and Domenico del Tasso (1491), and Federico Barocci's Deposition of Christ (1569). The cathedral also houses the Santo Anello (Holy Ring), traditionally the wedding ring of St. Joseph and the Virgin Mary.
