The Monastero dei Benedettini di San Nicolò l'Arena is a jewel of late Sicilian Baroque in the heart of Catania, telling the entire history of the city at the foot of Etna. Now home to the University of Catania's humanities faculty, the vast monastery complex is open to visitors for guided tours of its grand cloisters, frescoed halls, and underground Greco-Roman ruins.
