Firth Tower Museum
Firth Tower Museum is one of New Zealand's largest farming museums, set in tranquil grounds and spread across 13 historic buildings near Matamata. The 1882 tower at the heart of the site was built by Josiah Clifton Firth as both a country lookout and an estate office. Operated by the Matamata Historical Society for the Matamata-Piako District Council, it also includes a Heritage Centre with archives of the Matamata district. The tower itself is currently closed because of earthquake damage, but the museum and grounds remain open.
