Cheongju Early Printing Museum

Cheongju Early Printing Museum (청주고인쇄박물관) is dedicated to the legacy of Jikji — the world's oldest extant book printed with movable metal type, produced at Heungdeoksa Temple in 1377 and inscribed on UNESCO's Memory of the World register. The museum's main building, a modern printing gallery, the Movable Metal Type Training Hall and the Heungdeoksa Temple Site together explore Korea's printing heritage from manuscript and woodblock to early modern presses, alongside global printing-history context including comparison with Gutenberg. Highlights include three permanent exhibition halls, a Jikji digital immersive theatre, hands-on programmes and live demonstrations of metal type casting.
