The Academy Galleries are the public face of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, which celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2008. The Academy Galleries host regular exhibitions showcasing high quality fine art and craft from celebrated and recognised artists to new and emerging New Zealand artists. A feature of the Academy exhibitions is the works on show are for sale, on a cash and carry basis to overseas visitors and with the Academy charging artists a low rate of commission the works are very competitive with dealer galleries. The design of the Academy Galleries won three NZ Institute of Architects design awards in 2001.
